Establishing the Path of Practice
Led by Ryushin Paul Haller
Sunday, August 25, 1 pm – 4 pm

The path of practice is both a gift and a challenge. It offers us a way to lessen our suffering and the challenge of engaging our life, relationships and activities as opportunities to awaken. In walking the path we discover both compassion and wisdom, the former through patient acceptance of our suffering, and the latter through meeting our life with awareness and seeing who we are.

In this workshop we will study what it takes to establish the intentionality of relating to our life in this way. We’ll examine the traditional teachings of the Path and discuss how they apply to daily life.

The Path of Liberation, August 24

Refuge shundo (2)The Path of Liberation
Led by Ryushin Paul Haller
Saturday, August 24, 2 pm – 5 pm

The emphasis in early Buddhist teachings was on how to alleviate suffering and promote healing, to facilitate a joyful aliveness. This intentional process that enables transformation is traditionally called the Path of Liberation and is outlined in the teachings of the Seven Factors of Awakening. In this workshop we’ll both discuss and experientially engage these seven factors in order to see how they can guide our meditation practice and how they can help us to see that we can shift from affliction to liberation in the midst of the activities of daily life.
